Privacy Policy

WeatherJury is a free, ad-free hobby project that compares weather forecasts from multiple sources. It is built to collect as little data as possible. This page explains, plainly, what is processed and why.

What we do NOT do

• No user accounts, no registration, no passwords.
• No advertising and no sale or sharing of data for marketing.
• No tracking cookies without your explicit consent.

Data stored in your browser

Your preferences (language, country, units, theme), your last searched place, your vote and guess history, and a random pseudonymous player ID are stored in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device, is not linked to your name or email, and is deleted when you clear your browser data.

Votes and the forecast game

Thumb votes are stored server-side only as anonymous counters per country and source. Game guesses are stored under the random pseudonymous ID mentioned above, together with the place and your guess. Game data is automatically deleted after 60 days. Neither votes nor guesses are connected to any identity.

Analytics

• Cloudflare Web Analytics runs without cookies and without tracking individuals, and requires no consent.
• Google Analytics loads only if you press "Yes" in the cookie banner (Google Consent Mode v2; everything is denied by default). You can change your choice anytime via the "Cookies" link in the footer. See Google's privacy policy.

Feedback and donations

If you send feedback, it is delivered by Formspree, which processes what you choose to submit (including your email address if you provide one). Donations are handled entirely on Ko-fi and its payment providers; WeatherJury never sees your payment details.

Hosting and technical logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like virtually all web infrastructure, Cloudflare processes IP addresses transiently for security, abuse prevention (e.g. vote rate limiting) and delivery. WeatherJury does not build profiles from this data.

Legal bases (GDPR)

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for Google Analytics; legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for security, abuse prevention and cookieless aggregate statistics; performance of your request (Art. 6(1)(b)) when you send feedback.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and erase personal data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Since WeatherJury holds no account data, most data can be removed by you directly: clear the site's browser data and decline analytics. For anything else, contact us via the feedback button on the site and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above is updated. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
